SERBIAN AUTONOMOUS VESSEL PROTECTION DETACHMENT ARRIVED IN DJIBOUTI


Serbian Autonomous Vessel Protection Detachment arrived today in the early morning hours in Djibouti to start with its engagement in the EU Naval Forces military operation Atalanta.

The Serbian Armed Forces detachment from the composition of the Special Brigade will be engaged in the protection of vessels of the World Food Programme providing security for the crew, cargo and ship both out at sea in the Gulf of Aden and the Somali Basin, and in ports and anchorages of residence for the purpose of securing the delivery of the humanitarian aid.

Upon arrival in the area of operations, a twelve-member team was welcomed by Admiral Jan Christian Kak, Commander of the Combined Tactical Forces, under whose command they will be in the next month.

In his address, Admiral Jan Christian Kaack spoke about the tasks of units of the Naval Forces and the current situation in the area of operations, particularly emphasizing the important and responsible role that the team has in the protection of vessels of the World Food Programme, as one of the main goals of the Atalanta military operation.
