United Nations Operation in Cote d ̓ Ivoire


The UN Multinational Operation in the Côte d’ Ivoire (UNOCI) was established by the UN Security Council Resolution 1528, adopted on 27 February 2004, based on the UN SB estimate that the situation on the Côte d’Ivoire represents a continuous threat to the world peace and security in the region.

The mandate of the multinational operation was established in accordance with the Chapters VI and VII of the UN Charter.

The Serbian Armed Forces has participated in UNOCI since 1 May 2004 with three military observers.

The work of military observers is focused on implementation of peacekeeping process and the mandate of multinational operation and performing the regular patrolling tasks.
